Julia Vakser was born in Kharkov, Ukraine. In November 1993 she and her family migrated and later settled in New York, NY. During her undergraduate years, Julia returned to Europe for a study abroad program. She attended a Japanese woodcut seminar in Columbia University, New York in 1998. In 2000 she graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York with honors. Right now, Julia divides her professional time between design and illustration. Her illustration work involves print, collage, drawing, and painting. She was featured in Society of Illustration 1999. Her clients include such publications as The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Progressive, The Nation, Harvard Magazine, Jungle Interactive Media, The World Watch, The Pennsylvania Gazette, MAMM magazine, and The Vietnam Business Journal. Julia is an active member of Save Printmaking Association, and a member of Graphic Artist Guild. Currently, she lives and works in New York, NY.
